As the year is coming to an end, it is also the end of the decade. As we move on to 2020, we are leaving behind a whole decade and let’s just say that it has been an interesting era in terms of makeup trends and fashion. From the 90s to the 2010s, makeup and fashion trends changed drastically and there were some extremely memorable moments in the fashion industry. However, not every trend was worth remembering and some were so bad that we hope they never come back.

Holographic lips

Metallic and mermaid lips became big after some Youtubers and MUAs started creating looks with glittery and shimmery lip shades. Soon, big brands started coming out with metallic lip shades which simply look weird and are too loud. The trend is probably going to stay for a while longer but we don’t really care for it and would rather stick to matte or glossy lip shades instead of mermaid lips.

Gross nail arts

This is the most despicable makeup trend that ever existed. In the past few years nail art has really caught on but there has also been some gross nail arts such as pimple nail art, teeth art and the worst of all is the faces one where each nail has a small face along with hair attached to it. These nail arts are obviously impractical and could simply make anyone disgusted. Hopefully, this trend will die down and we won’t have to see it in 2020.

Overdose of highlighter

Another glittery trend is that of highlighters which do look flattering when applied in a small amount as they catch light and make you look more radiant. However, an overdose of highlighter just makes one look sweaty and tacky and we don’t see the point of it. The trend is made popular by make up bloggers such as Jeffrey Star and James Charles. Also the multi coloured highlighters look weird and stand out in a bad way.

Squiggly eyebrows

This is one of the weirdest and most disturbing makeup trends off late and we just can’t get used to it. What happened to normal arched eyebrows? Some Instagram influencers have tried to make squiggly eyebrows popular and it’s kind of ridiculous. Also dyeing the eyebrows in different colours is also something people have been doing and it just seems to make the weird shaped eyebrows look even more horrendous.

Mismatched lip liner

There is a reason to use a lip liner that matches the lip shade as it obviously flatters the actual colour and gives a better finish to the lips in general. However, some people line their lips with a darker shade than the actual lip colour and we just can’t wrap our heads around this trend. It makes the lips look weird and the outline looks unnatural and kind of crazy. It also makes over lining the lips look terrible and this trend should simply end ASAP.
