Every Friday Bollywood comes out with many new films and the box office decided if they are worth it or not. There are some movies that are doomed from the beginning and you know they will not do well even after watching the trailer and on the other hand there are some that reek of success as soon as the teaser comes out. We expect some movies to do good based on many things such as the cast or the director. Still you never know which movie might blow when it comes to screen. Let us take a look at some movies that looked promising but turned out to bel flops on the box office:

1. Tamasha:

Tamasha was directed by Imtiaz Ali who had already given a superhot ‘Rockstar’ to Ranbir Kapoor’s career. The movie got mixed reviews from the audience but was appreciated by the critics. Ranbir and Deepika’s chemistry was appreciated and the movie had some intense scenes and great dialogues. When the movie did not work well at the box office, it came as a shock as it had all the elements to be a successful film. Still it is considered an inspiring film that spoke volumes to the youth of our country to follow their dreams and not a pay cheque.

2. Rangoon:

Vishal Bhardwaj is one of Bollywood’s favourite directors and has given many hits such as Omkara, Kaminey, Haider etc. when he came out with Rangoon, it was expected that it would be a hit as there was a good cast involved and the trailers looked promising too. The audience was expecting a war epic but instead they got a love triangle movie that failed to impress. After giving many hits, this movie definitely gave a big blow to Vishal Bhardwaj.

3. FAN:

SRK had almost lost his charm after doing films like ‘Chennai Express’, ‘Happy New Year’ and ‘Dilwale’ which is why ‘FAN’ was supposed to be his comeback to good films. The movie had great acting, some good special effects and SRK playing a double role which was a treat to watch. The movie had a good plot and pace too. Even SRK was confident about the success of this film. It was a shock when this movie did not earn well at the box office.

4. Begum Jaan:

This was a remake of a Bengali film called ‘Rajkahini’. Vidya Balan and her group of female revolutionaries could not save this film as it became a flop. The film told the story of prostitutes who owned a brothel that stood on the line of partition between India and Pakistan. The cast was appreciated for their performances and the plot was promising but it could not save the movie on the box office.

5. Jagga Jasoos:

Anurag Basu had earlier directed ‘Barfi’ which was extremely successful and also had Ranbir in it. This time however he failed to create that magic on screen. When the trailer for this film came out, we were all expecting a great fantasy movie the likes of which have not been seen in Bollywood yet. The film was a musical in the true sense which was another risk that Basu took. Overall it failed to impress most people as they thought it was a childish movie and a complete mess.
