Holiday season is much awaited for everyone but a lot of people need extra care at this time of the year. Even if you don’t celebrate Christmas, end of year is tough on most people as it take a toll on our mind. If you have been too busy managing your family this season or have simply been feeling lonely then this is the time to take some care of yourself and put yourself first. So read on and make sure to relax and simply have a cup of coffee or hot chocolate once in a day with yourself to calm your nerves.

Are you hydrated?

This may seem like too basic a question but most of us adults don’t drink enough water in a day and are mostly dehydrated. While dehydration has its physical side effects, it also effects our mental health. This is the reason it is essential to stay hydrated and if you simply cannot remember to drink water then you must download apps or tell people around you to remind you to drink water. Also if you’re reading this, go have a glass of water.

Did you treat yourself?

Holidays are a time for gifts and treats but many people forget that it is not just about gifting other people. You must treat yourself too and it is not at all lame to buy yourself something nice too. If you have been eyeing that necklace for a long time or maybe something simple like a book then go ahead and buy it for yourself as you deserve it. If you are broke as you’ve spent too much money on others then do something simple for yourself like going out for pancakes or waffles or ordering a pizza for yourself.

Are you sleep deprived?

Sleep is as important as water and food and it is high time that adults understand this. Sleeping is a big part of our lives but as we grow up and stress comes into our lives, sleep becomes more difficult. If you have not been sleeping for at least 7 hours a day then there is a problem. Sleep deprivation leads to crankiness and increased anxiety which is the last thing you need right now. So, make sure to put your phone down and sleep and remember naps are great too.

Have you really talked to someone?

Sharing your emotions and feelings is an extremely important thing to do and if you can’t do that every day then at least make sure to talk to someone about what is going on in your life at least once a week. We often need to just let out a lot of things and feel better because we keep so much in all the time. Make sure you have been talking to a friend or family member and sharing things with them. So, go text your confidant or simply give them a call to discuss stuff.
