Now that the 92nd Oscars are over, we can’t stop thinking about them and how there were many breath taking moments as well as shocking moments at this year’s Oscars 2020. From the fashion at the red carpet to the performances as well as the results, the Oscars were a complete hit and an extravaganza of celebrating art and entertainment. Here are some of the most shocking things that happened at the 92nd Academy awards.
Eminem’s live performance
The most surprising or even shocking moment at the 92nd Oscars was a live performance by the famous rapper Eminem who came and performed his successful single that won him an Oscar years ago. The audience had some extreme reactions, with some people jamming with the rapper and some left utterly confused by it. It really was a highlight of the whole event and more of a pleasant surprise than a shock.
Timothee Chalamet’s outfit choice
Timothee Chalamet has been a red carpet hit since the past two year as the actor has a good presence and good fashion sense. On the Oscars red carpet this year, he decided to ditch the traditional tuxedo and went for a navy blue nylon tracksuit by Prada, with a vintage 1955 Cartier brooch affixed to the chest. Even though his outfit came as a shock to many, Chalamet carried it with style and confidence at the red carpet and definitely looked very comfortable.
Idina and the Nine Elsas
Idina Menzel who was nominated for the best song category for her song from the Disney film ‘Frozen 2’ performed live at the Oscars but with a surprising new element. Idina was joined by nine other singers who sang ‘Into the unknown’ alongside her in different languages. The performance portrayed diversity as well as the common love for music and film and was a treat to watch.
Natalie Portman’s silent protest
When Natalie Portman came on the red carpet everyone noticed that she was wearing a very unique and interesting dress. She wore a black jacket over her gown and the neck of the jacket had some words sewed on it in gold. The golden words on the seam were actually the names of some of the deserving female directors who did not get nominated at the Oscars this year such as Greta Gerwig and Lulu Wang.
Parasite winning Best Picture
The most surprising as well as the best moment at the Oscars this year was that a foreign film won the Oscar for Best Picture and made history. Parasite won big at the Oscars this time and took home awards such as Best international feature, Best Director and many more. However, winning Best Picture was it’s biggest achievement and it truly shocked us as the academy does not always appreciate international films but with Roma and parasite that trend is changing and we love it.
